| Planting By The MoonThe notion of planting by the moon goes back to ancient civilisations. You may be familiar with how the movement of the moon influences the rising and the falling of the tides. This influence is not restricted to tides only but actually affects plants and the soil they grow in. Gwydions Planting Guide states that the waxing and waning Moon affects plants in different ways and that thousands of years of experience lay behind using the most advantageous period within the lunar cycle. For this purpose plants may be divided into two categories root vegetables that is plants that develop below the soil such as potatoes, carrots, onions and those which growth above the soil such as leaf or salad vegetables, beans, peas, courgettes and flowers. For several years I have been planting by the moon and it works for me. I was introduced to the inexpensive Gwydions Planting Guide and their Annual Year Sheet and became hooked on this approach to planting and sowing.
